Dr Julie Preston has worked in the clinical psychology profession for over 24 years. She completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2003 at The University of Lancaster and now works both in the NHS as well as in independent practice.
She has experience of assessing, formulating and treating both adults and children with a wide range of difficulties including anxiety, low mood, self-harm, eating disorders, conduct difficulties,
relationship difficulties and trauma related symptoms. She uses a range of approaches in her practice including behavioural, cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), solution-focused, video interaction guidance (VIG) and parent child game (PCG) and Theraplay ideas. She is a VIG supervisor and an individual PCG trainer. She is accredited as a Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapist in CBT.
At home she is kept busy with her three teenage children. In her spare time she likes to keep herself active by running as well as walking her black pug.
