Dr Kelly Sweeney has extensive experience working with adults and adolescents in mental health settings. She worked within the NHS for 15 years before moving to independent practice in 2016. She has worked in adult and adolescent inpatient mental health services, in Probation and with young people attending Youth Offending Teams. She currently works part-time as the Lead Clinical Psychologist at an adolescent therapeutic residential service.
Dr Kelly works as an expert witness completing assessments for Family Courts relating to adolescent risk (to self and others) and parent’s capacity to protect. She also works on a project providing consultation to staff from CAFCASS (Child and Family Court Advisory and Support Service) and has provided training to the Police across the country.
Dr Kelly specialises in working therapeutically with adults and adolescents experiencing emotional distress, including anxiety and low mood, self-esteem and identity difficulties and those with self-harming behaviours. She implements an integrative approach to therapy drawing on a range of modalities including Compassion Focussed, Dialectical Behaviour and Cognitive Behavioural based therapies.
Dr Kelly is delighted to have the opportunity to work with Time Psychology. Away from her day-to-day work she is kept very busy with her three children.
